IMPORTANT NOTICE RE SCOUTING AT 1ST ELTHAM SCOUT GROUP

22nd March 2020

Dear 1st Eltham Families,

On Friday evening I received a letter from Nillumbik Shire Council, via Wendy Byrnes Nillumbik/Whittlesea District Commissioner, advising us that we are no longer to use the hall for the near furture. As the current situation is changing day by day they cannot give us a date of when we can return to using the hall again.

Today you will have received an email from the Chief Commissioner stating that Scouting will take a break from face to face meetings. Therefore from today there will be no section meetings for this coming week. But that doesn’t mean that Scouting stops! It’s important that we follow the advice from the Heath Department and do our bit in reducing the rate of spread of Covid-19, but Scouting is adaptable and there are plenty of things we can still do at home!

All leaders will be meeting via an online forum on Tuesday evening to discuss the way we need to move forward and what we as a group can put in place to ensure we are all able to continue our Scouting journeys. Your section leaders will be in touch in the very near future once we have things in place and to let you know the plans for the coming weeks and next term.

The Venturers are already discussing and planning what they can do over the next few weeks which is just awesome.

I would also ask that you keep both the section leaders and myself updated with any changes in circumstances for your family and your contact details are also up to date so we can also keep you informed of future information.

I hope that you and your families are keeping well and please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of the other leaders if you have any questions.

If you are on Facebook and not a member of the relevant section Facebook pages please ask so you can be added. More information will be sent out after the leader meeting on Tuesday evening.

One activity I will be putting forward to the leadership group is to have all sections make poppies at home for ANZAC Day – they can be red or purple, for the animals that served, and when we are able to come to regular scouting we make a wreath for Remembrance Day in November. Stay tuned for more news

Yours in Scouting
